Advertising Disclosure

Last updated: 14 May 2025

Our commitment to transparency

Scholion is committed to being transparent about any commercial relationships that may influence the content of this website. This Advertising Disclosure explains our approach to affiliate relationships, sponsored content, third-party advertising, and your rights as a user.

We follow applicable regulations — including FTC guidelines where relevant — and aim to ensure that any material connection between Scholion and third parties is clearly disclosed. Our editorial judgement and service recommendations are not for sale.

1. Affiliate relationships

From time to time, this website may contain links to third-party products or services. If we participate in affiliate programmes, the following applies:

  • Affiliate programme participation. Where we link to a product or service and receive compensation if you make a purchase or sign up, this will be indicated clearly near the relevant link or in a prominent disclosure on the page.
  • Commission-based links. Affiliate links may earn Scholion a commission at no additional cost to you. The price you pay for any linked product or service is not affected by this arrangement.
  • Product recommendation policies. Any product or service we mention is based on our honest assessment of its relevance or usefulness. Affiliate relationships do not determine what we recommend.
  • Financial relationship transparency. We will always disclose when a financial relationship exists between Scholion and a third party whose products or services are mentioned on this site.

2. Sponsored content

Where any content on this site has been produced in exchange for payment or other compensation from a third party, the following applies:

  • Identification of paid content. Sponsored content will be clearly labelled as "Sponsored", "Paid partnership", or similar, to distinguish it from independently produced editorial content.
  • Sponsored post labelling. Any article, resource, or post produced in collaboration with a commercial partner will carry a clear label at the top of the content.
  • Content authenticity. Even within sponsored content, we retain editorial control. We will not publish content that is misleading, inaccurate, or harmful to our readers.

3. Third-party advertising

This website may display advertising provided by third-party networks. Where this is the case, the following applies:

  • Display advertising. Third-party advertising networks may serve display advertisements on pages of this site. These are provided by the network and not controlled by Scholion beyond our network selection.
  • Behavioural targeting. Some advertising networks may use your browsing history and behaviour to show you relevant advertisements. This is governed by the network's own privacy and advertising policies.
  • Cookie usage for advertising. Advertising networks may place cookies on your device for the purpose of delivering and measuring advertisements. Your preferences for these cookies can be managed on our Cookie Policy page.
  • Ad personalisation. If you have consented to advertising personalisation, data about your visits to this site may be used to serve more relevant ads on other websites.

4. Your rights and controls

  • Ad preference management. You can manage your cookie and advertising preferences at any time via our Cookie Policy page.
  • Opt-out procedures. You may opt out of personalised advertising at any time by adjusting your cookie preferences. You may also use your browser settings or tools such as the Google Ads Settings to manage ad personalisation more broadly.
  • Data collection for advertising. Where advertising cookies are active, data may be collected about your visit to this site and used by advertising platforms. This is detailed further in our Privacy Policy.
  • Rights under privacy regulations. Depending on your location, you may have specific rights regarding how your data is used for advertising purposes. Please see our Privacy Policy for more detail, or contact us with specific requests.
